[SONG REVIEW]: The National – “Guilty Party”

It’s been four long years since Cincinnati rockers The National released their last album Trouble Will Find Me, and needless to say, it’s about time they threw something new at us. Their newest project, Sleep Well Beast, is set for an early September release, and yesterday we received our first real taste of what to expect.

“Guilty Party” is the perfect example of The National’s ability to grow and improve as a band without completely abandoning the qualities and characteristics that made them an indie rock powerhouse. For longtime fans, the song will come as a familiar revisiting of everything they love about the group. For new fans, it comes as a solemn, yet danceable, indie power ballad that will most definitely provide a strong reason for further investigation into the musicians behind it.

I can’t wait to hear more.
