The term “variety” can easily be defined as “the quality or state of being different or diverse; the absence of uniformity, sameness, or monotony.”
But before you get all pissy and start flexing your ego with thoughts like “okay, I obviously know what variety is” take a second and breathe – DO YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT VARIETY IS? In fact, isn’t variety what we’re all constantly seeking, every single day we exist? Nobody wants to be the same as everyone else, and if you do, you’re a complete moron.
Variety is a concept that can only truly be discovered upon experimentation, and that’s exactly what Rhode Island alt-rockers Deer Tick are doing on their upcoming albums Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2.
If you’re a sucker for the soft, reflective, folky stuff, you’ll be happy to know that lead singer John McCauley lends his raspy vocals to several such songs on Deer Tick Vol. 1.
If you prefer the heavy, headcrushing, rock and roll jams that the band are also known for, you’ll be happy to know that this is exactly what Deer Tick Vol. 2 is all about.
Isn’t variety beautiful?
Both Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2 are due out in September of 2017.
